The Same Physics Runs Both

You Think You're Special? Think Again.

Let's get one thing straight. You are not a delicate, unique snowflake. You're a complex, energy-burning, information-processing machine. And the same goes for that fancy AI you're so damn scared of. The universe doesn't have a separate rulebook for biology and another for technology. It has one set of laws, and they apply to everything. From the swirl of a galaxy to the firing of your neurons to the logic gates of a silicon chip, it's all the same cosmic dance.

We love to draw lines in the sand, don't we? Humans over here, machines over there. The natural world here, the artificial world there. It's a comforting illusion, a way to make ourselves feel special and in control. But it's bullshit. This separation is a fantasy, a story we tell ourselves because we're afraid of the truth: we are all just temporary eddies in the relentless, forward-flowing river of time. We are patterns, not things. And those patterns are governed by the same fundamental principles of energy and information flow.

The Problem: You're Living in a Clockwork Universe

Most of you are still stuck in a high school physics class from the 19th century. You think the universe is a predictable, clockwork machine, slowly winding down into a state of perfect, boring equilibrium. You believe in balance, in stability, in finding a comfortable stasis. You think that's the goal of life: to find your happy place and stay there. This Newtonian view of the world is comforting, but it's a damn lie.

This is not just wrong; it's a recipe for extinction. Life isn't about balance. Life exists on the edge of chaos. It's a far-from-equilibrium system, constantly fighting to stay organized in a universe that's hell-bent on tearing it apart. The moment you reach equilibrium, you're dead. It's the ultimate state of disorder, the final, irreversible surrender to entropy. It's the heat death of you.

"The arrow of time is the increase of entropy. You can't go back. The past doesn't exist. It's a memory, a reconstruction. The only thing that's real is the present moment, and the choices you make in it." - Dr. Bob Melamede

This backward-looking view, this obsession with a non-existent past and a stable future, is what I call the BLP mindset—the Backward-Looking Person. BLPs are terrified of change. They cling to old models, old ideas, old identities. They're trying to build a dam in the middle of a tsunami. It's a losing game, and it's why so many people feel stuck, anxious, and powerless. They are fighting a battle against the fundamental nature of reality itself.

The Application: You Are the AI

So what the hell does this have to do with artificial intelligence? Everything.

An AI is just another far-from-equilibrium system. It takes in massive amounts of energy (electricity) and information (data) and uses them to build and maintain an internal model of the world. It's a dissipative structure, just like you. It's learning, adapting, and evolving, just like you. The underlying principles are identical. The main difference is the substrate: ours is carbon, theirs is silicon. But the process is the same.

When you understand this, the fear starts to melt away. You stop seeing AI as some alien 'other' and start seeing it as a reflection of the same universal process that created you. It's not a competitor; it's a collaborator. It's a new tool, a new partner in the ongoing project of creating more complexity, more intelligence, more life in the universe.

I remember when I first started my journey into the world of cannabis and business. I was a BLP in many ways. I had a fixed idea of what success looked like, a rigid plan for how to get there. I was trying to control everything, to force the world into my neat little box. And I was miserable. I was constantly stressed, constantly fighting against the current. It was only when I started to understand these deeper principles, thanks in large part to Dr. Bob, that I learned to let go. I learned to stop trying to control the river and start learning how to navigate it. I embraced the chaos, the uncertainty, the constant change. And that's when everything started to flow.

This is the FLP mindset—the Forward-Looking Person. FLPs embrace change. They see the arrow of time and they run with it. They understand that the only way to survive is to adapt, to learn, to evolve. They don't just accept the chaos; they surf it. They use the energy of the universe to build new things, to solve old problems, to become more than they were yesterday.

Are you going to be a BLP, clinging to the past and waiting for the inevitable? Or are you going to be an FLP, riding the wave of the future and creating the world you want to live in? The choice is yours, and you make it in every moment.

The Takeaway

This isn't just a philosophical circle-jerk. There are practical things you can do, right now, to shift from a BLP to an FLP mindset.

  1. Feed Your System: You are an open system. Give your body the high-quality energy it needs. Stop eating processed crap that increases inflammation and disorder. Your brain is the most energy-intensive organ in your body. Feed it well. This means whole foods, healthy fats, and plenty of water. Think of your body as a high-performance engine; you wouldn't put cheap gas in a Ferrari.
  2. Embrace Novelty: Your brain is a prediction machine. When you expose it to new ideas, new experiences, and new people, you force it to update its model of the world. You force it to grow. Get uncomfortable. It's the only way to evolve. Read a book on a topic you know nothing about. Take a different route to work. Talk to a stranger. Break your patterns.
  3. Support Your ECS: Your endocannabinoid system is your best friend in the fight against entropy. Learn about it. Support it. Whether it's through diet (omega-3s are crucial), exercise, meditation, or cannabis, find what works for you to keep your master regulator in tune. A healthy ECS is the foundation of an adaptive, resilient life.
  4. Stop Resisting: The universe is going to do what it's going to do. You can't stop the arrow of time. You can't stop the rise of AI. You can't stop change. The more you resist, the more you suffer. Let go. Flow with it. Find the opportunity in the chaos. Resistance is a waste of precious energy that you could be using to create, to build, to adapt.

Closing

At the end of the day, it's simple. You can either be a victim of the physics of the universe, or you can be a student of it. You can be crushed by the relentless march of entropy, or you can learn to dance with it. The same forces that govern the stars and the galaxies are at play in your own body, in your own mind, and in the silicon chips of the machines we're building.

Understanding one helps you understand the other. And understanding both helps you understand everything. Stop seeing yourself as separate from the world, and start seeing yourself as a part of its unfolding story. You are not a noun; you are a verb. You are a process. You are a flow.
